Foot deformities can arise due to various causes even in the womb. If childhood foot deformities are left untreated, they can lead to severe difficulties and impairments. It is often hard for parents to identify whether a faulty position requires treatment. It is therefore important to look for a paediatric orthopaedic specialist early so that prompt treatment can begin.
The therapeutic aim is always to secure or re-establish the function of the foot in the long term. On the other hand, diagnosis by a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon may avoid unnecessary treatment of healthy children’s’ feet.
